To get you in the mood to learn about St Lucia, here are some photos taken by Mr Noble in 2006. There are rather a lot, so if you wish to see a selection, use the link on the right hand side of this page under the 'St Lucia' heading.
Here are some other photos from the Flickr website about St Lucia...

Sulgrave Manor Tudor Day
The Juniors travelled back in time to 16th Century England to spend time in the company of Sir Lawrence Washington, an ancestor of the first president of the USA at his home, Sulgrave Manor. They saw the simple house of his blacksmith and some of the fine rooms in his Manor House. They also reenacted the story of the whole Tudor Dynasty.
Oh... and they looked the part as well!!!

Ryton Organic Gardens
We visited Ryton Organic Gardens this afternoon, on the eve of the official opening of the Bilton Grange Organic Garden. As well as finding out exactly what 'organic' means, the children saw, smelt, touched, listened, and tasted their way through the different gardens, including the herbs, the fruit garden and the vegetable garden, coming away with lots of ideas for the BG garden. There was time to explore a special children's garden as well, hidden away in part of the centre.

Winter Slideshow
Winter Wonderland(HD) from Bilton Grange on Vimeo.
February 2009- a slide show of photos sent in to the Bilton Grange website from pupils and staff who couldn't make it into school on 5th February, stuck in the heavy snow. They were challenged to build a snowman, take a photo and send it in- they responded magnificently!

First snowfall...
The first snow of the winter has fallen very early this year, before the end of October. This morning made for some fine views...

Up up and away...

This hot-air balloon was spotted from the Junior classrooms' windows early this morning- we thought Sir Richard Branson might be dropping in, but it appeared to be landing somewhere towards Grandborough!

In the service of Sir Christopher Hatton...
We all became time travellers to spend a day at the Elizabethan Holdenby House in Northamptonshire, learning those skills that would allow us to blend in well in Tudor times, including cookery, using herbs and medicines, archery and pike drill.

Swan Lake
The boating pond was graced with a visit from a pair of swans. Intrepid photographer Michael managed to snap this photo.

A good first week...
It has been good to see the Juniors settle so quickly to the prep school routine, and at the end of the first week, they have experienced most of their timetable and activities.
The weather hasn't always been kind, so boilersuits have seen plenty of use at playtime, but the children have also had time to experience a concert given by some of the visiting music staff, learn some music for the upcoming harvest service and even an early look at the songs for the Christmas production!

They have also been out on the games field for netball and rugby, and in the swimming pool.
Our Tudor visit to Holdenby House is fast approaching, and you should have received a letter via the children's book bags with a permission slip to return.

An Olympics Slide Show
The Olympics may be over, but there are plenty of performances of which the competitors can be proud. Continuing a tradition I started at Sydney 2000, when we at BG could of course celebrate the achievement of Katharine Merry winning Bronze, of making a slide show with the best images of the Olympic Games, here is this year's offering...

And below, out of retirement for nostalgia's sake, is the Sydney 2000 slide show.

BG from the Air
Have you spotted the "Bird's Eye" views of BG that can be seen in Live Search Maps. What's more, you can view the school and its grounds from different directions. Can you work out when the pictures were taken?

Caught on Camera...!
Some of the 2008 Under Nine cricket team have been mixing with the stars or appearing on TV during the holidays...
...whilst another familiar face or two were spotted by the Sky Sports cameras (see video clip here) in the crowd at Grace Road, Leicester...
We didn't however become quite as famous as this young man who was caught on camera at the Rose Bowl on Twenty20 finals day!
